ABOUT SONIA

BEHIND the BRAND

A woman with long, wavy brown hair, wearing a red sleeveless dress, smiling and leaning forward against a plain white background.

HI, I’M SONIA BAVISTOCK

I’m a writer first. That’s the clearest way to say it… and the truest.

I write in my own voice, and I write for others. Across both, what matters is the same: honesty, rhythm, and words a person can feel.

My career hasn’t followed one neat line. I’ve worked across blogging, communications, brand storytelling, copywriting, social media, workshops, and live conversation. What that’s given me is range — and the ability to hold two things at once: the art and the strategy, the feeling and the edit.

I know how to capture the heart of a person, brand, or idea without flatlining what makes it distinct. I know how to polish a sentence without buffing the life out of it. And I know how to use the right words to do more than just sound good — to change how a person, a brand, or an idea is seen, felt, and understood.

MY SPECIALTIES

My Experience & Skillset

With over two decades of personal development under my belt, and qualifications in Business, Marketing, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Hypnosis, I have artfully woven my extensive and diverse experience into the world of my work.

My Personal Writing + Client Work

My personal writing explores identity, womanhood, reinvention, self-expression, style, relationships, growth, and the inner shifts that shape us from the inside out. It’s essay work — interior, unhurried, and more honest than is always comfortable.

My client work is different in form, but not in care. Whether I’m writing website copy, refining messaging, shaping a story, or editing someone’s words until they finally sound like them, I bring the same eye and the same standard. I want language that does its job well and has something meaningful to say.

Speaking is another extension of that work. I adore live conversation — workshops, podcast interviews, panels, guest speaking. There’s something very special about finding the right words in real time, in a room with people, and creating the kind of energetic exchange that leaves everyone thinking a little more deeply than they did before.

Oh! And another thing…

A woman with wavy, shoulder-length hair, wearing a white sleeveless top and a beige pleated skirt, sitting on a wooden chair and smiling in a minimalistic, light-colored room.

A few little extras about me, because I love knowing the details of a life:

I live in a coastal town with my husband, Chris, and our fur kids, Amalfi and Sebby. I’m an eldest daughter, a chatterbox and a Virgo, which makes me perfect for this work. I believe in a clear point of view, a vibey playlist, a well-placed expletive, and the restorative power of getting dressed like your favourite self.

Words From My Clients

“I knew the vision, positioning, and customer experience I wanted to create. But when it came to articulating that in a way that felt emotionally resonant and elevated, I knew I needed the right writer.”

“Sonia wasn't just invested in the work; she was completely 'all in'. The ultimate hype girl when I needed it most. Her work gave Salterra Haus a stronger foundation and helped bring its philosophy to life in a way that feels authentic, considered, and beautifully aligned.”

“What I appreciate most is that I feel seen through Sonia’s work. She understands not only what The Kitchen Companion does, but why we do it.”

“Working with Sonia feels easy because she listens, understands the bigger picture and cares about getting it right. It feels like having someone in my corner who genuinely wants to see the business succeed and who understands the story we're trying to tell.”
